MAVSim

Marine Autonomous Vehicle Simulator — a browser-based simulator for ship maneuvering and marine autonomy, free to use.

MAVSim (Marine Autonomous Vehicle Simulator) is developed in the lab to let students, researchers and visitors experience realistic ship dynamics in the browser — including inertia, hydrodynamics and maneuvering — without specialised hardware.

It is used for teaching and research on marine autonomy, and as a hands-on demonstration where someone can “captain” a vessel through a course while feeling how differently a ship behaves from a car or bus.

What it does

  • Browser-based marine vehicle simulation
  • Realistic ship dynamics for maneuvering and control
  • Aimed at students, researchers and public outreach
