Research Associate — I
ANRF-funded project on AI-enabled marine robotics at the MAV Laboratory, Department of Ocean Engineering, IIT Madras.
Number of openings: one (1)
Fellowship: ₹58,000 per month + HRA (as per ANRF / IIT Madras norms)
Duration: initially for one year, extendable up to the project duration based on satisfactory performance.
Eligibility
Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Control Systems, or related disciplines.
Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award may also apply.
Demonstrated research experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Reinforcement learning
- Robotics and autonomous systems
- System identification
- Control theory
- Marine robotics
- Machine learning and AI
Expectations and responsibilities
The Research Associate will lead advanced research activities related to:
- Reinforcement learning for information-rich trajectory generation
- Bayesian system identification and uncertainty quantification
- Development of high-fidelity simulation environments
- Sim-to-real transfer of learning-based control algorithms
- Technical supervision of project personnel and students
- Preparation of publications, technical reports, and open-source software tools
- Planning and execution of field trials using autonomous underwater vehicles
